32-Column Periodic Table

The long-form (Janet) layout is the natural shape of the periodic table: it places the s-, f-, d-, and p-blocks side by side in strict Aufbau order, with no block detached. Every column directly maps to one step in the quantum shell-filling sequence, making the underlying structure immediately visible. The familiar 18-column layout is a practical abbreviation that removes the f-block from the main body to fit on a standard page — at the cost of breaking the true left-to-right ordering. See § 6.8 — The Periodic Table Emerges for the full quantum-mechanical derivation of both layouts.
